Home / Mandarin documentary narration
Mandarin Chinese narration for documentaries about history, culture, people and the natural world.
Since 2014, my documentary narration has been broadcast across four CCTV channels. My work spans short factual programmes and long-form documentary series, with subjects including cultural heritage, food, geography, archaeology and wildlife.
Documentary scripts can move between explanation, observation and personal stories. I approach each one by understanding the subject, finding its narrative thread and choosing a pace that gives the listener time to follow. Share the audience, editorial direction and any pronunciation references with your script.
I am an independent narrator based in China and work independently with CCTV production teams; I am not a CCTV employee. Selected programme links on my homepage let you explore my broadcast work.
If you are looking for a Chinese documentary narrator, my recording language is Standard Mandarin as spoken in mainland China. I record Mandarin narration for documentaries about China and for stories set elsewhere, with the audience and editorial direction agreed before recording.
My history documentary narration includes the Qi Jiguang sample below. Other work covers biography, archaeology and cultural heritage: subjects where names, dates and the connections between events need careful attention.
The food and culture demo explores the relationship between food, place and tradition. For nature and wildlife documentary narration, the white-headed langur excerpt offers a separate reference. Share the location, terminology and pronunciation notes for your own film.

Documentary narration starts at USD $600 per episode up to 20 minutes of programme duration and 3,000 Chinese characters, or USD $1,000 up to 40 minutes and 6,000 Chinese characters. Both limits apply. Longer or more complex projects need a custom quote.
