Mandarin audiobook narrator

Mandarin Chinese audiobook and literary narration, with attention to meaning, pacing and the listener’s experience.

From the written page to a listening experience

Long-form narration needs a pace that lets the listener follow the writing over time. I approach a manuscript by understanding its subject and narrative thread, then adapting the delivery to the audience and purpose of the work.

My background includes both short factual programmes and long-form documentary series broadcast on CCTV. I bring that experience to audiobook and literary narration. The samples below include a prose reading and a longer audiobook extract; they help you assess whether my delivery suits your text.

Scripts in Simplified or Traditional Chinese are welcome. Before booking, we agree the manuscript version, pronunciation references, review window and recording schedule. If the project is a good fit, a short custom read can help you hear your own writing in Mandarin.

Chinese audiobook narration and long-form reading

If you are looking to hire a Mandarin audiobook narrator for nonfiction or literary prose, send a representative extract and the full manuscript length. A custom sample can help you assess the reading before a longer recording schedule is agreed.

For long-form narration, we establish chapter structure, pronunciation references and review milestones before recording. The audiobook demo below is edited voice only, so you can assess the narration separately from music.

What to send with your project brief

  • The manuscript or a representative extract and the total Chinese character count.
  • The genre, intended listener and pronunciation or character notes.
  • Your publishing platform, licence term, territory and target release date.
  • The required chapter or file structure and whether you need post-production beyond edited narration.

Audiobook rates are quoted per finished hour: the duration of delivered narration, rather than time spent in the studio. Milestones and payment arrangements are agreed for the project. Standard delivery is edited dry voice; music, mixing and mastering are outside that scope.

Project communication is by email and the brief form. No calls are required. Delivery dates and usage rights are confirmed in writing.

Questions about this service

What does Mandarin audiobook narration cost?

Audiobook narration starts at USD $200 per finished hour. A finished hour means one hour of delivered audio, not one hour spent recording. Delivery and payment milestones are agreed for the project.

Does the audiobook rate include music and mastering?

Standard delivery is edited, checked dry narration: recording, editing out misreads, a full listen-through and correction of recording errors. Music, mixing, mastering, EQ, compression, noise reduction and loudness normalisation are not included.

How do I arrange a custom sample?

If the project is a good fit, I can record a free 30–60 second sample of your script. Send an extract, the manuscript length, intended audience, publishing plans and deadline through the brief form or by email.
